A life built with purpose

I born in Canada, but more than three decades ago, Costa Rica became my home, my school of life, and the place where I decided to build my future. I arrived in this beautiful country on September 3, 1993, and after years of work, effort, and commitment, I proudly became a Costa Rican citizen through naturalization in November 2008.

Since then, I have understood that belonging to a country means much more than simply having a nationality. It means feeling part of its people, defending its values, contributing to its communities, and working to leave a better legacy for future generations.

My professional and community life has been closely connected to the sea, the environment, and the development of our communities. As a PADI Deep Diving Instructor, I have had the opportunity to discover and appreciate the richness of our oceans. This experience also led me to become involved in conservation projects, coral restoration, water protection, and environmental education.

I have learned that great changes do not always begin on the biggest stages. Many times, they begin with one person who decides to act, with a group of neighbors who organize themselves, with a community that refuses to give up, and with people who understand that serving others is a responsibility, not a privilege.

Today, I have the honor of serving as an Alternate Councilor of the Municipality of Nicoya, representing the La Gran Nicoya caucus. From this position, I seek to contribute a voice committed to transparency, oversight, dialogue, and the search for real solutions for our communities.

My vision for Nicoya is of a canton that moves forward without losing its identity; that grows without destroying its natural environment; that creates opportunities without leaving communities behind; and that looks toward the future while learning from the decisions of the past.

I dream of a better-connected Nicoya, with better roads, efficient public services, opportunities for our youth, support for local economic development, responsible tourism, and territorial management that allows us to organize our present and build our future.

But above all, I believe in the people of Nicoya. I believe in their ability to rise, to work, to create, and to transform. I believe our canton has everything it needs to become an example of sustainable development, citizen participation, and quality of life.


My story began in Canada, but much of my life has been written in Costa Rica. And today, I want to continue writing that story alongside the people of Nicoya.

Because for me, serving a community is not about seeking a position; it is about accepting the commitment to leave it better than we found it.
